If you're considering visiting other places in the UK then here are some links that may be useful.

Devon

A charming B&B in north Devon - ideal as a base for visiting anywhere between Coombe Martin and Hartland Quay and further is Raleigh House. in Appledore.

For south Devon a self catering cottage in the Ivybridge region.

Cornwall

On the south side of Cornwall Fowey.

Holidaying in the UK

Not much enjoyment to be had these days spending 5 or so hours checking in at an airport so instead why not spend some time travelling around the UK?

There is so much to see in the UK and if you take your car at least you can pack for all weathers (and us gals can take the shoes we think we may need!). The upside of touring the UK out of season is that it is easier to get into popular restaurants, walk round the picturesque villages and take good photographs of the wonderful scenery, not having too many bodies infront of the building or object being photographed.

We started seeing the UK over 5 years ago, firstly with a trip to Cornwall in chilly a November, but it turned out a good decision as the weather was kind to us! We managed to see the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens in an uncrowded environment!  We had an enlightening tour of the kitchens at Lanhydrock House - so informative - it made us decided to return in spring to see the rest of the house.  A surprisingly good day was a tour round the Geevor Tin Mine at Pendeen (near St Just).  Not being much of an industrial historian I was surprised how long we were there - 4 hours in total.  The changing room has been left as though the final shift had just walked out and the walls were covered in their photographs.  Definitely worth a visit with lots of interactive things to do for children.
