Wednesday 6th: it's quiet outside - no traffic, no people.....some views of the garden this morning.....

December 2009
Saturday 26th: the snow may have nearly all gone but this weather has left us and some of our friends with colds and sore throats. Hot toddies galore!
The new dining room is looking exceptionally good, excuse me for sounding so chuffed!! There are some up to date photos of it on the breakfast page under Food & Suppliers. We are still awaiting another Shaker table so that we can seat all our guests comfortably together, but unfortunately it got stuck in the snow somewhere in Leicestershire on its way to the shop for waxing. I suppose we will have to wait for the new year for its arrival now.
Wednesday 23rd: it snowed earlier this week and now it's cold and freezing. The cats won't go further than the back door - poor paddy paws get too cold....how precious!!

Monday 6th: precipitation very welcome, not only for the comfort of sleeping at night, but the garden too. The weather has certainly produced a bounty of fruit and vegetables.....blackcurrents for a cheesecake or 2 and the last of the rhubarb for rhubarb & elderflower tarlets.

Monday 2nd: living room redecorated - hurrah!! The deep purple wall has totally changed the feeling of the room and I am extremely pleased with the look. I now have to find the right material to make some cushion covers....it's all about accessories........

Thursday 5th: the snow fell thick last night so today went for a walk with a friend up Blakeney Hill and down the otherside...absolutely beautiful...so peaceful

Monday 3rd: well, we wanted snow and we've got it, but not as deep as the east of the UK it seems. Seems I can't get into the garden......again (shame!), this time it's frozen. The cats are crossing their legs as they won't venture out.
January 2009
Last year we went on holiday to Marrakech where the senses of taste, smell and colour are hit full on. I wish I'd taken an empty suitcase so I could've brought back more extra large curtain tassles, and bone & coloured resin mirrors. On our return I was inspired by the visit to change some details in bedroom 2. Well, after months of searching I finally found a mirror to go above the double bed. I found many on the internet but they were either not the correct colour frame or wrong size, not to mention the price! Anyway, once mirror was found the back wall of the bedroom was painted a deep colour purple and now the mirror is hung and 2 silver sconces flank it. The look is is just what I was aiming for - warm and sumptuous.
Unfortunately I now have the painting bug and am in the process of deciding new colours for the living room from the selection of swatches on the wall! There's nothing like a fresh coat of paint to lift the spirits and give a tired room a new lease of life.
The garden needs it too, but the weather is getting in the way.....wet, wet, wet!
Oh well, back to the ironing.....
