We are situated in the hamlet of Nibley on the outskirts of Blakeney, on the edge of the Forest of Dean. The house is mentioned in " The History of the County of Gloucester, volume 5" as dating back to 1678, and the original 2-roomed farmhouse still exists within the present structure as the living room and bedroom 2 above it. The rest of the house has been added to over the centuries, sideways and upwards. We have 5 bedrooms - 2 ensuite double, 1 ensuite twin, 1 ensuite single and 1 single with own facilities.
The property is conveniently located for easy access to explore the Royal Forest of Dean, and surrounding areas. Resplendent in late spring, acres of bluebells cover the forest floor spilling hues of lilac and purple over grassy mounds and hugging the bases of trees. It’s a wonderful place for walking, and in autumn you are rewarded with the rich reds, golds and rusts as the trees shed their leaves and await the oncoming winter. The skies are unpolluted by light - an excellent place for astronomers to view the stars and planets.
The towns of Coleford, Lydney and Cinderford are all within 15 minutes drive. If you don’t have your own transport there is a bus stop right outside our property - Chepstow southwards via Lydney, and Gloucester northwards. From Lydney there are buses to Coleford, Cinderford and places in between. This link will take you to a comprehensive listing of bus timetables which may help you plan your visit to the Forest in advance.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home someday soon.
